Thanks for taking the time to check out my website, I am sure all you really care about is the cakes, but for those of you that are interested in the baker behind the cakes I thought I would give you a brief introduction. My name is Jenny Maguire, though I'm more affectionately known as Ma, hence 'What's in Ma's Cake Tin'. I discovered my love for cake making twenty years ago following endless requests from the kids for cakes to take to school or parties. However it was a personal battle with Cancer that led me to give up my role as a Life Coach and concentrate on building a baking business. You can follow my personal journey towards building a successful business on my blog.
My Pledge to you.
My aim is ensure that every cake is filled with a little taste of something special. I promise to give your cake all the love and attention it deserves including Quality ingredients, and all the time it needs.
Every cake tells two stories.
The story behind the reason for a cake
1. Who the cake is for... It’s really important to me that when you receive my cakes you feel special, that you recognise that you or something about your lifestyle is reflected in the cake. So this story begins like any other with an understanding of the lead character. 2. What's the occasion.... Understanding the importance of your special occasion enables me to ensure the correct sentiments are captured in the cake. Comedic cakes are great for some but not for everyone. 3. The pleasure that you or others get from your cake.... Like all great gifts, I want the moment you see your cake to be significant. I want you to feel like you have received something personal and special. Something you love so much you want to share it with everyone.
The story behind the making of the cake
1. Made with love... Love will always be the first and last ingredients in my cakes. This involves creating the right environment for creativity, asking God to bless the process and allowing myself the necessary time and space to successfully bake. 2. Choosing the flavours..... As your cake hits your tastebuds, its vital that the experience is one of pleasure. There is nothing quite as upsetting as grabbing a handful of revels to put in your mouth only to find you've bitten the coffee one and you don't like coffee. I am happy to experiment and try to recreate any flavours you require but traditionally I tend to work with, vanilla, chocolate, lemon, coffee, Turkish delight, red velvet & fruit. A variety of fillings can be added according to taste. 3. Problems overcome.... I am not sure if I should admit this but its not uncommon to hit some unexpected problems along the way whether its a sunken sponge, some splitting fondant or simply a decoration that won't come together as expected. As with life these are the challenges we overcome and give a personality to your cake. 4. Completed with love.... For me the best bit of this story is when the cake is made, covered and ready for dressing, it is in the small details that I see my cakes come to life. Towards the end of any cake there is always a sense of excitement as I prepare to hand the finished masterpiece over. You can rest assured your cake has been made with love.
